Denise Buisman Pilger, is a contemporary artist, expat and avid globetrotter. Born in Amsterdam she’s also called Fort Worth, Montréal and Nagoya home, using each relocation as an opportunity to explore and gather inspiration.

Driven by a need to discover her authentic core, Denise recently broadened her creative horizons to encompass abstract art. She has a strong sense of composition and consistently works with subtle textures and vibrant colors. Her themes revolve around nostalgia and genuine human identity.

Drawing from over a decade and a half of experience with acrylics, she crafts images that exude both bold vibrancy and ethereal lightness.

Her creative process involves the layering of different viscosities and translucencies of acrylic paints merged with materials such as washi paper, oil pastels, sand, and alcohol to create depth and intrigue.

Originally from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Denise has a Bachelor of Arts in Illustration from Willem de Kooning Academy of Arts in Rotterdam.
